How to connect an external monitor/projector to a laptop?

Most of the laptops available these days can be connected to an external display. These displays can be of different types -  CRT monitor, flat panel display, or Projector. Connecting such display medium transfers the display to the connected device however the control remains with the main laptop.

Usually we would take the help of a tech troubleshooter in our office to get this done when needed. This at times becomes embarrassing, not because you don't know it, but because you are waiting for a presentation and the tech person takes his own sweet time. You do not know what to tell the people who are eagerly waiting for your presentation to begin. Besides that where would you get an IT guy when you need to do this at home. Let us today, learn to do this ourselves.

To do this you will need to connect the device to the laptop's 15-pin video connection on the side/back of the laptop. You will have to use a specific cable. It has 2 ends as shown.  One end of the cable will be connected to the back of the laptop and the other end to the external display. You need not worry to think about that which port do i plug it into as there will be only one such opening at the back of the laptop that will accept this. Besides this you don't even need to think that the end with the pin goes into the laptop or the display device. These  cables and devices are luckily designed in a standard way. You will be able to identify this just by looking at the available ports.. Once connected, your laptop will automatically switch to the new external display In some laptops you may need press certain keys in order to switch from the laptop to the external display.

The keys are different in different laptops. The common ones are : Fn + F3, F4, F5, F8, orF9. You need to press and hold the Fn key and then press the appropriate key. The key is usally there on the upper number pad and will often be labeled as CRT/LCD or have a picture of a monitor on the key or close to the key. If such options are not present you need to refer to your manufacturers website or customer service.

Note - Some laptops have the capability to display on your laptop screen as well as external display simultaneously.

Pen drive showing empty even memory consumed

Are you facing the problem of pendrive not showing any data, although in the properties the space is occupied..??

Here is the simple option..

This happens due to some of the types of the viruses and malwares that enters in your pendrive..

After scanning it will remove all the iruses, but your data will not even showed..

To recover your data do the following things..

1.  Open the “Folder Options”My Computer -> Tools -> Folder options

2.     You will see 3 menus
3.     Select the “View” Option
4.      In the view menu,        
         Firstly Click on the “Show Hidden Files and Folders”Next uncheck the option “Hide Protected                               Operating System Files”

5.      You will be prompt with a dialog box, click on yes.
6.      Now click on the apply and close it..
7.      Now open your pendrive,
         You will see the icon just like your drive looks, but it will not have any name..
8.       Double Click on it, and you will see the new window opening, containing your all data.
          Cut all the data and take the backup of it at any suitable place and then scan the pendrive and remove                      all unwanted folder.
9.        Again open the folder option -> View select don’t show hidden files and folders also again check the                      box of Hide Protected Operating System Files
10.      You are done, you will get all the data that is being hide by the virus in the system folders.

Deleting Windows.Old file from C: Drive

Many has the problem of Windows.Old folder is not deleting.
Is this Folder occupying your valuable resource..??
Here's a simple way to delete Windows.Old folder..

If you install Windows 7,8,etc by performing a custom installation and don't format the partition during the installation process, files that were used in your previous version of Windows are stored in the Windows.old folder. The type of files in this folder depends on your computer. After you’ve used Windows for a while—for example, one or two weeks—and you’re confident that your files and settings are back to where you want them to be, you can safely reclaim disk space by using Disk Cleanup to delete the Windows.old folder.

Open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Disk Cleanup, and then, in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.

If you're prompted to choose a drive, click the drive you just installed Windows on, and then click OK.

In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click Clean up system files.

If you're again prompted to choose a drive, click the drive you just installed Windows on, and then click OK.

Select the Previous Windows installation(s) check box, and any other check boxes for the files you want to delete, and then click OK.

In the message that appears, click Delete Files.

And you are  done.. Your valuable memory is free for other storage..

How to use section break in MS Word or to give different page numbers to different parts in same document

Many have the problem of making the section breaks in MS Word or to say in simple words dont know how to give page number from starting to different sections.
for eg we dont want page number in the pages before index; want to give index number in roman letters in index and then starting from numeral index number for rest of the pages.
If we try normally we cant do so, we can give number from starting only and that also of one type only..
