Creating Ad-Hoc network to play multiplayer games via Wi-Fi in Windows 8

Ad Hoc network is very important to share files and internet with other wifi enabled devices. Ad Hoc connection is very important for Gamers to Host LAN Game Party  titles on LAN such as-Counter Strike, Age Of Empires,StarCraft, Need For Speed, etc
But Windows 8, unlike Windows 7, missing the option of creating Ad-Hoc network.
Here's a simple way of creating a Ad-Hoc network without any external third party software.....

What you have to do is just to follow the following simple steps..

Step 1: Run CMD with administrative privileges; type cmd on Start Screen, right click and select Run as Administrator.

Step 2: Chekc whether your NIC supports vistualization or not. Just run the following command
netsh wlan show drivers

If  it says NO, you will have to update your network adpater’s driver.
Step 3: Now enter the following command
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=_____ key=_______
Here enter name of the network you want to keep in place of underscore (____) after ssid and the password after key..
see the below image, i have kept MyNetwork as name and 1234567890 as password..

you can see the message stating that you have successfully created..

Step 4:
once hostednetwork has been set to allow, Start the hostednetwork by simply entering the following command
netsh wlan start hostednetwork

Your hosted network is started.

NOTE : ONCE YOU HAVE MADE THE NETWORK, YOU DONT NEED TO PERFORM ALL THE STEPS EVERYTIME YOU WANT TO CREATE A SERVER, NEXT TIME YOU JUST NEED TO PERFORM THE LAST STEP. IE.. "netsh wlan start hostednetwork"
NOw start the Wi-Fi connection of other PC/Laptop, which you want to connect, and you can see the name of the network you made..
connect to it. (Dont worry about the limited access)
Start the game and now you can connect with your friends in games you like..

  • Now if you want to share internet between two or more laptops

Go to Network and Internet->Network Connections, and open properties dialog of network device(which is connected to internet). Now,open Sharing tab, enable Allow other users to connect through this computer’s Internet Connection and then choose the newly created ad hoc connection from the list.
and you are done.. you cn connect through wifi as much laptop and can use net in all laptops..

  11. To play a graphics intensive pc game nowadays, it is very important to get a proper review of the pc gaming components before buying a rig as it can properly give an idea of how the performance or the gameplay will be. In addition entertainment articles are also a very good source of knowledge regarding the current trends in hardware configuration and optimization.

  16. If hostednetwork isn’t supported you can try my “Wifi Direct Access Point” app available in Microsoft Store. It use WiFi Direct to create an Access Point and works with the new driver model of Windows 10 (Wireless Card should support WiFi Direct).
